Independent Forest Audit Public Survey

Our consulting division is comprised of staff with expertise in various fields including forestry, Geographic Information Systems, ecology, biology, and environmental assessment. Together, we maintain Ontario-based strategic partnerships and networks with professionals across America, Sweden and Chile.

Our blend of talent and experience allows us to offer services including forest management planning, forest auditing, biodiversity and wildlife habitat modelling, and business development. Some of our projects and services include.
Forest Management Planning

KBM has assisted in the preparation of numerous forest management plans for both private land holdings, Sustainable Forest License areas (Ontario) and Forest Management Unit areas (Manitoba). Our planning support teams are built on a core of experienced senior consultants, with support from a skilled group of junior consultants, and collaborative efforts from outside specialists. For more information see Forest Management Planning.

Independent Forest Audits

Our teams' skills and procedures developed over ten years of auditing consistently meet the government's and forest industry's expectations. For more information see Independent Forest Audits.

First Nations Business Ventures

  • KBM has pursued successful joint ventures in site preparation and business development with the First Nations. We have negotiated co-management of new forest operations in traditional territory as well as leading training and community development projects. For more information see First Nations Business Ventures.
Forest Management Consultation
  • KBM completed the successful establishment of Greenmantle Forest Inc., in which 48 small, independent logging contractors in the Thunder Bay and Nipigon Districts have majority ownership. This represents a unique forest tenure in Ontario since the company and license is owned by small independent contractors rather than large forest industry companies.
Biodiversity Assessment
  • The Biodiversity Assessment Project (BAP) is designed to predict the potential impacts of various forest management strategies on the biological values of the forest. BAP includes three levels of analysis: ecosystem diversity, landscape configuration and species-specific habitat supply. The ecosystem diversity and landscape configuration level describes general future forest conditions (i.e., tree species distribution). The species-specific habitat supply analysis consists of species specific Habitat Supply Models (HSMs) for 17 species.
